Apply for a Job at Roosevelt Beacons

We have two open positions at our Roosevelt High School Beacons Center. Check out the job descriptions below and click on the link of the job you wish to apply for. 


Program Coordinator:
School Success Coordinator

(Part Time 25-35 hrs. per week. Sample Schedule: M-Th 10am-5:30pm, F 1pm-5:30pm)

The program coordinator wears many hats at our Beacons/School Success centers.  They are a coach and mentor to staff and youth. They are a resource for youth and a representative of our centers to families, school, and community members.  Coordinators keep the program running smoothly by preparing program schedules, maintaining group rosters, supporting staff with ideas and resources, take initiative in planning and implementing large school/program events, and promoting a positive school culture.  Coordinators must be flexible, organized, creative, and a be positive role model.
Here are some of the primary responsibilities:
1.    Plan, implement, and support high quality and relevant programming with youth workers.
2.    Coordinate and support innovative academic, athletic, and arts programming
3.    Interact and maintain positive relationships with community partners, volunteers, Beacons staff, families, youth, and school and district staff.
4.    Coordinate high school events including but not limited to: school dances, pep fests, homecoming celebrations, and family nights.
5.    Be an active participant in building school spirit and positive school culture.
6.    Support program with general administrative responsibilities like taking attendance, distributing flyers, administering surveys, and data entry.
7.    Run weekly meetings with team to provide updates, plan events, troubleshoot issues, and maintain a supportive network of staff.
8.    Deliver programming based on positive youth development principles and the YMCA's Four Core Values (Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility)
9.    Make sure that the center and program space is kept clean and organized.
10. Be a part of an ongoing process with youth and your colleagues to build and develop your skills as a youth worker.

We are a YMCA Program affiliated with North Community YMCA in Minneapolis, MN. When applying, you will be applying to North Community YMCA, but your job site will be Roosevelt High School.

Program Lead Staff:               
School Success Program Staff

(Part time 15-20 hrs. per week.  Sample Schedule: M-F 1pm-5:30pm)

Program Lead staff are the heart of our Beacons/School Success Programs.  Lead Staff are mentors, role models, allies, and educators for our high school youth. They run the groups and keep the youth engaged while having fun and promoting a positive school culture.  We encourage people to apply who have specialized skills that they can teach the youth (ex. dance, music, computer skills, art, sports)  

Here are some of the primary responsibilities:
1.    Plan and run your own club of 10-15 High School youth during program (Monday-Thursday, 3-5:30pm) 
2.      Provide academic support to participants by doing grade checks and providing tutoring/homework help.
3.      Plan and implement high school events including but not limited to: school dances, pep fests, homecoming celebrations, and family nights.
4.      Deliver programming based on positive youth development principles and the YMCA's Four Core Values (Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility)
5.      Make sure that the center and program space is kept clean and organized.
6.      Be a part of an ongoing process with youth and your colleagues to build and develop your skills as a youth worker.
7.      Work as a team center cohesively.
8.      Implement a curriculum (as an individual / assigned) that is project based.
9.      Support program with general administrative responsibilities like taking attendance, distributing flyers, administering surveys, and data entry.
10.   Provide a fun and safe enjoyable experience to all program participants and partners/staff.
11.   Interact and maintain positive relationships with community partners, volunteers, Beacons staff, families, youth, school and district staff.
12.   Be an active participant in building school spirit and positive school culture.
